The Music of Shabbat
Join us for a musical journey through the Shabbat services.
Knowledge of liturgical music can help us to navigate synagogue services (that can be quite daunting). In this course we will explore the music of the Friday night and Saturday morning services, honing in on key pieces of liturgy, exploring historical background and how it weaves together musically.
We will start each session by learning a nigun (wordless melody), explore the words it is set to in the service, and return to singing it at the end.
The course is given in English, in collaboration with the Jewish Community in Stockholm.
Course material
Course material is included in the cost for this course.
