Questions Regarding Application and Administration
- Anyone who is 16 years old, or turns 16 in the year the course starts, can apply to a profile course.
- For Swedish courses you need to have a basic understanding of Swedish, as the folk high school communicates in Swedish.
- Most courses are taught in Swedish, and a number are taught in other languages, if so the school will send out information in English.
- You need an e-mail address to be able to apply for our courses, as Paideia folkhögskola communicates via e-mail.
- Some courses require prior knowledge, in which case they are listed on the course page.
- You should live within commuting distance to be able to attend a course in a physical classroom, or be able to arrange travel and accommodation on your own. You do not need to live in Stockholm or a nearby city to attend an online course.
- Please note that we cannot guarantee you a place. If many apply for the same course, we will make a selection.
1. Click on the course you are interested in to go to the course page.
2. Click on the “APPLY HERE” button on the course page.
3. Fill in the application form before the deadline. The date is in the white text box on the course page.
4. Click on the “SEND” button at the bottom of the application form to submit your application. Your application is only complete if you submit it and receive an immediate on-screen confirmation.
5. Once you have completed the application, you will receive both an automated on-screen confirmation as well as an automated email that we have received your application. Please check both your inbox and your spam folder for this automatic message. If you have not received the message, it is probably because you have entered an incorrect e-mail address.
- We will get back to you by email if we are missing any information from you.
- You need to provide your personal information (e.g. name, address, social security number, e-mail address and mobile phone number) in order for us to process your application.
- If you have a protected identity or do not have a Swedish personal identity number, please contact us so that we can help you with your application.
- Please write about yourself, why you are applying for the course and your previous experience. This information may be used as a basis for the admission process.
- Please note that we cannot guarantee you a place. If many people apply for the same course, we will make a selection.
Please check your spam regularly so you don’t miss any emails from the school. - Please note that the course application is open for a limited period. Once the course application is closed, you can no longer submit an application.
- Your application cannot be transferred to another semester. You will need to reapply each semester you wish to take a course.

The telephone hours for the profile courses are Tuesdays 10:00-12:00 and Thursdays 14-16. The telephone number is 072-666 65 03.
- Yes, you are welcome to apply for several courses in the same semester. You do this by filling in a new, separate application for each course. Make sure that the courses you apply for do not clash with each other, time wise.
- If you are admitted to several courses, you will pay the course fees for all of them.
- You cannot be admitted to different levels of the same course (for instance Modern Hebrew Semester 2 and Modern Hebrew Semester 3) during the same semester. If you want to take both courses, you can apply for one this semester and the other in a future semester.
- If you are unsure which level is suitable for you, please contact the administration at info@paideiafolkhogskola.se or read about the course level on the course page.
- Please note that we cannot guarantee you a place. If many apply for the same course, we will make a selection.
- If you are absent from the first few classes, please send an e-mail to the administration so that we can inform the teacher.
- You do not need to notify the administration of your absence during the semester, but you are welcome to inform the teacher by sending a message to their email address. If you are in a small group, you will make the teacher’s work easier, for example, by letting him/her know that no participant will be present and thus be able to cancel the lesson.
- If you do not wish to continue the course, you will have to deregister. Read more about deregistration under the tab “How do I deregister from a course?”.
- If you are admitted to the course, we will send you a positive admission letter by e-mail with information about the start of the course, the cost of the course and other information such as how to deregister from the course.
- If you no longer wish to take the course, it is your own responsibility to deregister from the course.
- You deregister by filling in the deregistration form in your admission letter. Paideia Folkhögskola does not accept deregistrations by phone, e-mail or through course teachers.
- If you fill in the deregistration form before the date indicated you do not have to pay for the course. If you have not deregistered before the deadline, you will still have to pay your course cost. Note that if the time period for free deregistration has ended, we still ask you to deregister if you no longer wish to attend the course.
- Your place on the course cannot be transferred to another semester. You will need to reapply each semester you wish to attend a course.
- No, our profile courses are not grade-based. This means that you will receive neither a grade nor a review. The course does not include a test.
- Your course does not give higher education credits. The course is not registered on Antagning.se.
- If you want a certificate that you have taken the course, you can contact the administration after your course is over.
Questions Regarding Courses
- Most courses are taught in Swedish, and a number are taught in other languages.
- Courses in Swedish may have course literature in English.
- Some courses are taught entirely in English.
- Courses in language or text may have course literature in Yiddish, Hebrew or English.
- Read the course page to find out what applies to the particular course you are interested in.
- On the course page, you will find information on when the course starts and how many sessions the course covers.
- If you are admitted to the course, we will send you a positive admission letter by e-mail. The acceptance letter will include all course dates and times, as well as information on course materials (e.g. whether you will buy a course book on your own or whether you will receive it from us, if the course includes a course book).
- Please note that not all courses have a course book. For some courses, photocopies of materials will be distributed or materials will be sent out digitally.
- Any schedule changes (canceled or changed lessons) will be notified by email.

- Sessions may be canceled. Information about canceled sessions will be sent by e-mail.
- Paideia Folkhögskola always strives to replace a canceled session with a replacement session at a later date in the same semester.
- When it is not possible to arrange a replacement date, the school may cancel a session.
- Paideia Folkhögskola will cancel a maximum of one lesson on courses of 4-9 sessions, or two lessons on courses of 12-15 sessions, without compensation.
- If changes in activities are required due to directives from authorities or other circumstances beyond the school’s control, the above is the exception.

- If changes in activities are required due to directives from authorities or other circumstances beyond the school’s control, an entire course may be canceled or change format to digital teaching.
- A course may be canceled because too few people have applied for the course, because the teacher has been on sick leave and no suitable substitute is available, or because a large number of participants have canceled, which may mean that Paideia Folkhögskola makes the assessment that the course cannot be carried out with reasonable educational quality.
- If a course is canceled, we will notify you who have been admitted to the course in writing via e-mail.
- If a course is canceled after you have paid the course fee, the folk high school will refund the amount to you.

- Paideia Folkhögskola’s organizes courses taught both in a physical classroom and at a distance.
- On the course page it says “Distance learning” if the course will be given remotely.
- A course can be moved from a physical classroom to a virtual classroom, if necessary. If this is the case, we will notify you in writing if you have been admitted to the course.
- The courses given at a distance take place via the digital platform Zoom. You as a participant log in to the Zoom lesson and communicate with your teacher via e-mail.
- Courses taught at a distance may include physical meetings in the schedule, such as a study visit or a final meeting where the teacher and the group have the opportunity to meet physically at the school. This type of “hybrid arrangement” is indicated on the course page in connection with the application and in the admission letter if you are offered a place on the course.

- Online courses, sometimes called distance learning courses, take place via the digital platform Zoom. You as a participant log in to the Zoom lesson and communicate with your teacher via e-mail. You need to have the Zoom program installed on your computer or tablet before the course starts.
- Before the start of the course, Paideia folkhögskola will send out information with a course link via email. The school also offers an information meeting about Zoom before the start of the course, where you as a participant can ask questions and try the platform.

Questions Regarding Course Costs and Payment
- Courses cost between 200-1000 SEK per course. Some courses cost more, such as intensive programs. Check the course page for more information about the course you are interested in.
- On some courses you buy your own course literature. For others, you will receive course literature from the school.
- If you live outside Sweden/EU and apply for a distance learning course, different costs may apply, depending on whether we need to send you course material by post, for example.
- You will receive an email invoice from the Folk High School with the course cost. If you take several courses, we will collect them all on the same invoice, and the invoice will be sent no later than 30 days after the start of the course according to the course with a later start date.
- There is the possibility to apply for a scholarship, read more in the Frequently Asked Questions section.
- You will receive an invoice by email after the start of the course. The invoice is paid to Paideia Folkhögskolas BankGiro.
- If you live abroad and pay from a foreign bank, we will send you a PayPal payment link. There you enter the amount to be transferred in SEK. We can also send you the information for an international bank transfer, however that option might become more expensive for you.
- If you are taking several courses, we will combine them all on the same invoice, and the invoice will be sent no later than 30 days after the start of the course, according to the course with the later start date.
- If you have not paid your invoice by the due date, we will send you a reminder invoice.
- If you do not pay your invoice, we may refuse to allow you to continue your studies at Paideia Folkhögskola in connection with a new course application from you in the future.

- No, our profile courses are not registered with CSN so you cannot apply for student finance or a Mecenat card.
- Our profile courses are not grade-based, which means that you do not receive a grade or assessment.
Miscellaneous Questions
- Paideia Folkhögskola collects your personal data in order to contact you.
- We register your name, social security number and address to ensure that you are you and to report to the Folkbildningrådet, the region (Stockholm’s local government) and, if necessary, also to CSN. Paideia Folkhögskola is obliged to do this in order to receive government funding for organizing courses.
- Your application is registered in the Cognito Forms system and then stored locally.
- Authorized staff in the administration handle your data in protected Excel files, in the school system SchoolSoft and in the financial program FortNox.
- In some cases, we share your contact details with third parties such as PostNord (if we send you course materials) and MailChimp (for mailings regarding courses and events).
- Course instructors will have access to relevant information about you, such as your contact details and your previous knowledge.
We also share the necessary data with those responsible for access to our premises. - We will keep your contact details even after your course is over, in order to inform you about events, courses and other opportunities offered by Paideia Folkhögskola. You can inform us at any time that you do not wish to receive further mailings.

- Folkhögskolan is committed to providing a hypoallergenic and accessible environment.
- There is a ramp leading to the entrance of the main building and an accessible toilet inside the school.
- We ask participants to avoid strong perfumes and not to bring nuts, alcohol or furry animals into the premises.
- If you have any questions about courses (application, admission, payment, etc.), please write to our administration at info@paideiafolkhogskola.se and we will get back to you by e-mail.
- If you are admitted to a course, you will receive the e-mail address of your course teacher. During the course, you can write to the teacher if you have questions about the course material and content.
- At the end of the course, we will send you a course evaluation by email where you are welcome to write your comments and any suggestions for improvement.
