Directed by Uta Arning and produced by UMA Pictures AB, A Doll named Glick is a 11 minute short film funded by the Swedish Film Institute and Region Jönköping aimed at children and families. The film tells the story of Danielle who finds herself alone on her birthday, missing her beloved grandfather Moische Glick, who never missed a celebration. When she discovers a mysterious gift in her room, he magically returns in the form of a talking doll. Together, they embark on a humorous, music-filled journey that reconnects Danielle with her Yiddish roots and family heritage. Through themes of family and identity, the film explores how memory, music, and imagination can reconnect us with our cultural roots. “Dockan Glick explores the power of imagination and the importance of remembering those who shape our identity,” says Uta Arning.
