Sabbath Queen, a documentary filmed over a period of 21 years, follows Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie’s journey as the heir of 38 generations of Orthodox rabbis, including Chief Rabbis of Israel. He is torn between embracing and rejecting his destiny and becomes a dragqueen rebel, a queer father and the founder of Lab/Shul, an artistically driven pop-up experimental community.
Welcome to a film screening and a talk with Sandi DuBowski, the film’s director and producer, led by Anneli Rådestad, The Jewish Chronicles editor-in-chief.
