A Story from Cyprus: Memory, Media, and the Search for the Past

With Ayelet Klein Cohen

At the centre of the talk is the story of Jewish refugees who were held in camps in Cyprus after World War II, a chapter that in many families was spoken about only briefly. The story is followed through three generations: those who lived through it, their children, and their grandchildren. The talk explores how people try to understand the past through media such as newspapers, archives, social media, and digital platforms. It focuses on curiosity and memory, on how fragments become narratives, how media shapes what we know, and why the past continues to matter in the present.
