BEIT MIDRASH – STUDYING JEWISH TEXTS
A beit midrash is a Jewish house of learning and one of the most important rooms of Judaism. But the beit midrash is not only a place but also a way of studying and understanding Jewish texts by being in dialogue with others. It is an approach that requires curiosity, creativity and openness to both old texts and new interpretations.
In this class, through a systematic analysis of particular passages of Talmud, and employing the traditional method of chevruta, we will develop literacy and skills that will empower you to study and interpret Jewish text with confidence and clarity.
The course is given in English.
This course is for those who wish to develop further their relationship to Jewish texts, particularly Talmud, having had some experience of Jewish text studies.
Course material is included in the course cost.
